Brendan Loughnane challenges top prospect Tom Duquesnoy this weekend in the main event of BAMMA 22 with the featherweight title on the line. Duquesnoy is favoured to win this matchup and successfully defend his belt. However, Loughnane believes he should be the betting favourite, but has no issues at all with going into the bout as the underdog. "Why I'm such an underdog is beyond me, but I will open a lot of eyes next Saturday," Loughnane told "It's been a long time since I was an underdog, so I'm looking forward to proving the doubters wrong."   Loughnane has had his best camp to date leading up to one of the biggest fights of his career, and that's because he's had the opportunity to train with the likes of former UFC champions Rashad Evans and Dominick Cruz at Alliance MMA. He believes fighting with UFC fighters will give him the biggest advantage when he scraps with Duquesnoy on Saturday. "It's been amazing, they're great guys. It's helped me out a lot," he said. "They really talk to me as an athlete, as a person, they've given me confidence to take on an MMA career." Loughnane was a semi-finalist on The Ultimate Fighter a few years ago and did get signed to the UFC, but lost his one-and-only official Octagon appearance in 2012. He believes his experience in the big leagues will help him "mentally".  Despite the loss, he already has that experience in the top organization, where as Duquesnoy does not. Duquesnoy is considered one of the top MMA prospects fighting out of Europe. Loughnane, on the other hand, begs to differ and doesn't think he's close to UFC caliber at all. "He has looked great in his fights. Don't get me wrong, he's a great talent," he said of Duquesnoy. "But if you look [at his record] and he's fought one UFC fighter and got finished in 40 seconds. "Mentally and physically, I'm in the perfect shape for this fight."
