Bryan Barberena vs. Warlley Alves set for Brazil card in May

Bryan Barberena, who is coming off a huge upset win over Sage Northcutt at UFC on FOX 18 is set to face Warlley Alves, who currently holds an undefeated record of 10-0.

The fight was confirmed on the UFC's Brazil Instagram account.
  Barberena (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) took home a third round TKO victory over Joe Ellenberger in his UFC debut before losing a narrow decision to Chad Laprise. "Bam Bam" then fought prospect Sage Northcutt and managed to pull off a huge upset, submitting Northcutt in the second frame. Alves (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) won The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale, submitting Marcio Alexandre Jr. with a guillotine choke in the third round. He then went on to fight Alan Jouban at welterweight and won the fight via decision. Since his return to 170lbs, Alves is 3-0 with the aforementioned decision over Jouban and two submission victories over Nordine Taleb and Colby Covington. UFC Fight Night 88, which is expected to be changed to UFC 198 in the near future, is set to take place in Brazil. No venue has been announced yet, but the card features match-ups such as:

  • Patrick Cummins vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
  • Demian Maia vs. Matt Brown
  • Nate Marquardt vs. Thiago Santos
