Cathal Pendred retires from MMA: ‘I have other interests I want to pursue’

Cathal Pendred (17-4-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has officially retired from competitive mixed martial arts after admitting he 'doesn't 'have the passion' to fight anymore.

The Irishman announced the decision on his Twitter account earlier today. Pendred competed in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), he made his debut with the promotion in July 2014, putting together a four fight win streak with victories over Mike King, Gasan Umalatov, Sean Spencer and Augusto Montano before losing two straight to John Howard and Tom Breese.
