John Howard has a fight booked with Tim Means at UFC Fight Night 80 later this week and "The Dirty Bird" is definitely an opponent he should not look past, but Howard has a certain rematch in mind he hopes occurs in the hear future. "Doomsday" squared off with Ryan LaFlare early last year, but ultimately dropped a unanimous decision loss. However, controversy surrounded the bout when it was all said and done, because Howard suffered a devastating groin strike that, in his opinion, changed the entire fight. "With Ryan LaFlare, I definitely felt I won that fight but I felt I got cheated out," Howard told MMAjr.co. "He hit me in the groin that I had to go to the doctors and get certain things done to be just to be physically alright for the rest of my life. People don't understand that shot was one of the worst shots ever. People will say, 'Oh, you're making excuses.' That's not an excuse. That shot put me down for five minutes. I was man enough to keep fighting but that seriously hurt and I dictated the whole fight [before the groin strike]. I don't care who you are, any man with genitals knows what it feels to get hit in the balls. So when you get kneed from a professional fighter, who's an athlete, you get direct kneed, trust me, that changes the fight. I believe the fight was going okay and the momentum was going my way. I think it should've been a DQ. "That's one guy I do want a rematch with. I want a rematch with LaFlare because he knows and I know what happened in that fight. Him kneeing my balls changed that fight. He can say, 'Oh no...' no, no, there's no excuse for that. You do something like that, that should've been a DQ in my way. So that's definitely a fight I want back. I won that fight, even though I took that fight to decision, it should've been my way because they should've deducted a point or two for him doing that to me." LaFlare welcomes Mike Pierce back to the Octagon at the TUF 22 Finale, a day after Howard faces Means, so "Doomsday" is hoping both of them defeat their respective opponents so the rematch makes sense. "He told me that he'd give me a rematch then all of a sudden it changed up. Good luck in your fight and hopefully you win, but when that happens, I'll wait for you and get a rematch, for sure." Howard claims the only reason he doesn't like LaFlare is because of the illegal shot in their outing. "I never knew the guy before the fight. I respected the guy until he gave that illegal shot, and then talks like he clearly won that fight. In interviews [he said], 'Oh no I won that fight, that shot didn't matter.' For him to say that, that's why I have beef with him, that's why I'm not too crazy about him. I would love a rematch because that was some BS."
