UFC bantamweight contender Michael McDonald (16-3) has finally been cleared to fight by doctors, and is aiming to finally return before the end of the year. The news was reported on Wednesday's UFC Tonight. He hasn't competed inside the Octagon since late 2013, when he dropped a submission loss to Urijah Faber. A lingering hand injury and other injuries have kept him on the sidelines since. Still only 24 years of age, 'Mayday' is already a veteran of the sport with seven UFC fights and eight under the Zuffa, LLC banner. He owns a 'Submission of the Year' candidate win over veteran Brad Pickett, and a victory against flyweight contender Chris Cariaso. He was once -- and still is -- considered to be the future of the 135-pound division, because he was signed to the promotion at only 20-years old. No fight has been offered by the UFC as of now and McDonald hasn't called anyone out, either.
