We assumed earlier this week Mirko Cro Cop's primary cause of retirement was age and his reported shoulder injury. It turns out the 41-year-old Croatian has been suspended by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) due to a potential anti-doping policy violation. The announcement was made publicly by the UFC on Wednesday evening inside the UFC's official statement, which you can read here. Mirko Cro Cop was expected to fight Anthony Hamilton at UFC Fight Night 79 later this month, however announced yesterday on his website he had withdrew from the card citing a shoulder injury. A hinted verification of drug use was said, as "various cocktails of drugs" were used to heal his injured shoulder, however nothing helped. The UFC statement announced that Anthony Hamilton will be removed from the card and given a different opponent in a future event.
