The fight was confirmed on Wednesday's edition of UFC Tonight. Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) fought Michael Johnson in December of 2015 and put together one of his most impressive performances in recent memory on the way to a convincing decision victory. Diaz then agreed to step in to face Conor McGregor at UFC 196 after Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos pulled out citing a broken foot. Diaz and McGregor agreed to fight at welterweight and McGregor was a huge favourite going into the bout. After a slow start, Diaz turned it up in the second round and after hurting Conor on the feet, picked up a submission finish. McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) went 5-0 in the UFC before winning the Interim Featherweight title at UFC 189 against Chad Mendes after then champ Jose Aldo pulled out. McGregor stopped Mendes in the second round. Aldo and McGregor then did fight, and McGregor stunned fans across the world by knocking Aldo out in just 13-seconds. Following the win, McGregor announced his plans to go up to Lightweight and was given a title shot against Rafael dos Anjos. McGregor and dos Anjos were all set to fight at UFC 196 but after dos Anjos pulled out, he was replaced by Nate Diaz. Diaz's win was a huge shock to MMA fans worldwide and McGregor will not let it settle at that, and is looking to get revenge when they fight again in July. UFC 200 takes place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 9, 2016.
